Hola Amigos! I miss Honduras already. I learned so much on this trip, and I'm still in culture shock. I haven't had time to go through all the photos I took but I'll be putting them up throughout the rest of the week. In Honduras, a lot of the houses were smaller than the size of my dorm room. You couldn't drink the water because they didn't have any water purification system. There was no hot water. The people were all malnourished. The toilets didn't have a handle to flush them, and you had to pour water in the toilet for it to flush. The floors of the houses were dirt. I went with a program called Global Dental Brigades and we helped set up and run dental clinics in a community that was 2 hours away from where we were staying. We also gave the people dental supplies and medicines and taught them how to brush and floss their teeth. When we got to the community there were lines of hundreds of people waiting to get on the list for dental and medical care. Some of them had walked 4 hours to get there. I met a lot of awesome people and had one of the best weeks of my life. God taught me so much on this trip like how to love better and how to humble myself and serve others well. He also taught me that money doesn't buy happiness. When I was there this verse was written on the board of the school we were at and I think it sums up what I learned the best:
Philippians 2:3-4 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
Here are three photos that are some of my favorites that I took on the trip!
